# Revolutionising Basketball: The NBA’s Game-Changing AI Partnership with Amazon

Prepare yourself, basketball fans! The upcoming 20252026 season is set to bring a new era of data-driven analysis, thanks to Amazon Web Services (AWS) advanced AI and detailed movement tracking. This groundbreaking platform, aptly named “NBA Inside the Game”, promises to deliver unparalleled insights into the sport we all love.

## Granular Player Metrics

No longer will we merely celebrate a player for making the shot; we’ll dissect the difficulty of their attempts with newfound precision. The Expected Field Goal Percentage (eFG%) is just one example, predicting the odds of making that shot based on factors like the shooter’s orientation and pose, defender positions, and more.

## New Stats to Quantify Advantage

The NBA Inside the Game introduces Gravity as a new stat to quantify individual players impact on the court. By analysing player movements with and without the ball, it assesses how closely they’re guarded and how their actions create advantageous space for teammates. On the defensive side, the Defensive Score Box focuses on rebounders and blockers, providing detailed stats that break down traditional measures according to each play.

## Unlocking the Power of Play Finder

For diehard fans seeking a deeper dive into game statistics, AWS offers Play Findera tool that allows you to search NBA footage at the level of individual plays. This wealth of information is accessible alongside new statistics on NBA Inside the Game.

## A Step Beyond Live Analytics

While live analytics have become commonplace in major sports leagues, AWS takes it a step further by tracking 29 body parts of each player as they move across the court. Exactly which body parts and how they’ll be tracked remain undisclosed. Nonetheless, these movements will fuel the AI system to deliver stats that “capture previously unmeasured aspects of basketball.”

## The Future of NBA and AWS Partnership

This isn’t the first collaboration between the NBA and Amazon. In 2024, they struck an 11-year media rights deal to stream 66 regular-season NBA games per year on Prime Video. With the first game set for October 24th, fans can look forward to witnessing these revolutionary stats in action during live broadcasts, as well as on the NBA app and website.

As we step into this exciting new era of basketball data analysis, it’s time to embrace the power of AI and prepare for a game like never before. So, are you ready to dive deep into the world of basketball intelligence? Stay tuned as the 20252026 season unfolds!
